if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.
A word of comfort. God will rescue the righteous from trials. In a world of destructive living, God found Noah and rescued him. Noah responded to God’s call, acted in obedience and was saved from the flood along with his family. Among a people living unholy lives, Lot was given safe passage out before God’s destruction was enacted. God will protect and save those who are living according to His will.
But what about the ungodly? Where is the comfort? God will hold them until the day of judgement. God will not judge or destroy immediately. Even the sinner is given time for repentance. The Lord will continually reach out to those who are living according to the ways of the world. God desires that all would come to repentance and live holy lives. He will keep working to draw us to Himself.
God will rescue the righteous now, and He’ll be patient with the unrighteous, giving them opportunity to turn to Him.
