A (not so) Random Week of Journaling

27 Aug
As part of my Daily journaling exercise I respond to the questions: What are you reading in the Bible? What stands out? What is God placing on your heart?

At the end of the week I am asked to summarize these "Kairos" moments. Here are my thoughts from a couple of weeks ago:
SUNDAY: after reading Jeremiah 12-14
I need to focus on the Lord's assignments and not waste energy on my own (or other people's) initiatives.

MONDAY: after reading Jeremiah 15-17
God rejects those who are disobedient but is quick to receive them again when repentance leads to obedience and worship.

TUESDAY: after reading Jeremiah 18-21
If they stay in the city they will be destroyed ... the place of exile is where living will be possible.

WEDNESDAY: after reading Jeremiah 22-24
The Lord blesses obedience, the disobedient will be cast out.

THURSDAY: after reading Jeremiah 25-27
The Lord sends messages to warn of disobedience. Will we listen and act in faithfulness?

FRIDAY: after reading Jeremiah 28-30
In the midst of "seeming" abandonment the Lord has productive plans for our future.

SATURDAY: after reading Jeremiah 31-32
No matter how rebellious the people, the Lord longs to bring them home.
My weekly summary of journal entries ends with these three items:

REVELATION: reflect on what God has revealed this week.
People by fleshly nature are rebellious and disobedient because we pursue our own will seeing immediate pleasure as more satisfying than waiting upon the Lord's ultimate goodness.

DRAW CLOSER: decide how you will draw closer to God next week.
I will try to be mindful of when pursuing my will interferes with God's plan.

VERSES MEMORIZED: list the Bible verse(s) you memorized.
(This is chosen at the beginning of the week before I know what my reading for that week says.)

"If you have run with people and are worn out,
how will you compete with horses?
If you fall down in an open field
how will you survive in the forest along the Jordan?
- Jeremiah 12:15
I pray these reflections from A (not so) Random Week of Journaling may be a blessing to you and an encouragement to engage your own routine of reading scripture and reflecting through journaling.

1 Chronicles 16:10-11, in the Amplified version — very powerful in relation to your blog post — stepping into the inheritance that is ours, by inhabiting faithfulness — 😇
